SECOND ANNUAL MEETING OF THE INTOSAI WORKING GROUP ON FOLLOW-UP AUDIT (WGFA)
The Second Meeting of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Working Group on Follow-up Audit (WGFA) was successfully concluded today bringing together 43 delegates representing 22 Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from across the INTOSAI community on 17–18 August 2026 in Kolkata, India. The meeting served as an important international platform to promote knowledge exchange and advance good practices in follow-up auditing.
The Meeting was chaired by Her Excellency Dato' Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia. Also in attendance were the Auditor General from India, His Excellency Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Auditor General of Gambia, His Excellency Mr. Cherno Amadou Sowe, Auditor General of Burundi, His Excellency Mr. Ndaye Elysee and His Excellency Dr. Ali Heidar Nouri, Advisor to the President of SAI Iran.
The meeting also brought together senior officials and high-level representatives from SAIs in Thailand, the Philippines, Egypt, Kenya, Liberia, Myanmar, Uganda, South Africa, Afrosai-E, Bahrain, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Mauritius, Oman and Russia, as well as representatives from related international organisations, including the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI), which supports the capacity, professionalism and institutional development of SAIs globally. The strong participation of senior representatives reflects the strategic importance of WGFA as a platform for strengthening international cooperation, exchanging expertise and good practices, and enhancing the effectiveness of follow-up audits.
SAI Malaysia has taken an active role in the setting up and leadership of this new Working Group under INTOSAI since its establishment on 28 October 2024.
Among others the WGFA members deliberated on the development of its key deliverable to produce the first INTOSAI Compendium of Best Practices on Follow-up Audit by 2027. Discussions focused particularly on the preparation of the Compendium, complemented by knowledge-sharing sessions that highlighted practical experiences, approaches and lessons learned from participating SAIs.
